A quartet of friends, four of the UK’s most eclectic and innovative improvisers, musicking on instruments never combined before, come together to compose other worldly sonic landscapes on double bass, ondes martenot, saw, hurdy gurdy, oboes and the ‘gliss anglais’.
Old, new, analogue, structured and spontaneous outpourings by maverick, non-conformist, virtuosic and highly skilled creatives. Expect ethereal and effortless combinations across multiple genres, with humour and frivolity, discipline and symbolism – you will not have heard music like this before.
Henry Dagg Ondes Martenot and Saw
Henry Dagg is a composer and multi-instrumentalist whose work includes the development of new instruments and sound sculptures.
Much of his composition work has been commissioned by BBC Radio and TV, and he has performed with artists including Bjork, Bob Geldof, Keane, and The Cranberries.

David Leahy double bass and movement
Referred to as the ‘dancing, double bass Maestro’ by bassist Barre Phillips (2011), David is an internationally respected improvising musician and dancer. Resident in the UK, David has an impressive list of achievements as a soloist, improviser, conductor, and composer. David is also a committed socially-engaged practitioner, researcher, and educator, working both in the community and at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he lectures across both the music and dance faculties.
Stevie Wishart hurdy gurdy
Stevie has performed and had her compositions the Festival Hall, the Sydney Opera House and St Peter’s Basilica Rome. More recently she has collaborated with Alice Oswald the pianist Joanna MacGregor, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Stevie’s music has been used by choreographers including Pina Bausch and Wayne McGregor. Collaborations with other artists include the Australian cult band The Necks; Fred Frith, and Rhodri Davies.

Maureen Wolloshin oboe, cor anglais and gliss anglais
Maureen Wolloshin is a free improviser composer and feministing artistic researcher. Her work is experimental and always with others. She plays with Free Women, Noisy Women, London Improvisers Orchestra (occasionally) and Free Range Orchestra, duets with Stevie Wishart and Khabat Abas and has presented her research across Europe. She is published in Echo Journal.
