RouteStock is honoured to present The Balaphonik Sound System aka Alexandre Scalisi - a multi-instrumentalist who has participated in various musical projects. Using all genres, from gnawa to reggae to hiphop to afrobeat and beyond, he studies rhythm in all its forms, through his travels.
Balaphonik Sound System embarks on his most personal project. Everything is produced live in the purest tradition of the troubadour musician.
Traditional instruments such as the balafon, the didgeridoo, the hurdy-gurdy and other gimbals mingle with the machines, the bass synth, and the beat box, all linked by a song-dialect and orchestrated by the loop station. It is a lively mixtape, combined with a dose of improvisation, with a universal language.
Alexandre created his own mode of expression, based on emotional onomatopoeias. He explores the possibilities of the voice as an instrument and as a vehicle for interior landscapes.
He creates his universe steeped in dub, reggae, electro, hiphop…
