About The Event

This series of ink drawings, paintings and linocuts are inspired by the imagination of places we had as a child and the wanderings our minds go on when they drift from the here and now.

Drawn mainly at night in the van whilst waiting for work and listening to the radio or sitting on the sofa at home with the telly on.

Each piece is an individual “mind wander” through a small town.

Duncan Grant in his own words...

I was born in Gravesend, Kent in 1965 and am proud to be from this town in the bottom right hand corner of Britain where I still live.

I paint mainly in acrylic and also do relief printing, I try to express the strange goings on in my head and using shape, colour and texture, how my interpretations of what I see in nature and also my own take on everyday life. I am passionate about my home town The people and places from the area feature largely in my work

My style of art is self-taught and I paint and draw mainly sitting on the sofa listening to the tv with a small, hairy Jack Russell Terrier at my side – my paint covered sofa bears testament to this.

I have had a studio at NUCLEUS ARTS in Chatham and I am currently moving to a space by the River back in Gravesend.

I have exhibited in Kent, Liverpool and London and my work is in private collections across the world and have been involved in several collaborative art projects

I enjoy painting and I am pleased that people seem to like my work my work, I work in the construction industry in the real world and I live happily in Gravesend with my wife Davina, two cats ( Charlie & Katie ) and two Jack Russell Terriers ( Maisie & Billy )
