SUN SCHOOL by QUIXOTE CRAZY - book launch

Acclaimed local painter and author, Michael Hempstead, under his pen name Quixote Crazy, launches his new fantastical book for children. Michael will present his book with a talk, imagery, Q+A and book signing, with first edition copies available.

About the book

When twins Didi and Flow move to South London after their parents’ sudden

disappearance, nothing prepares them for their first day at the Sun School — a place that

transforms into a giant yellow cake, where teachers behave like they’re under a spell and

only children notice the strangeness. With the help of another pair of twins, Joan and Joe,

they begin to uncover a series of bizarre clues that hint at something much bigger and

darker beneath the school itself. With the grown-ups oblivious and time running out, the

twin-twins must fix things — before the world changes forever.

About the author

Quixote Crazy is the pen name of Michael Hempstead. He has been an artist since his

childhood. His paintings have been exhibited in London, Edinburgh, Vienna, Chicago,

Washington DC, Cyprus and Italy. In 2018, he won the London Ultra Award. In 2020,

one of his works was in the Sir John Moores Painting Prize Exhibition in Liverpool.

He has also worked in theatre as an actor, script-writer and director. He has also been a

school teacher, teaching art, drama and creative writing.
